The firm’s performance during September was hampered by $5.1 billion in market depreciation and $323 million in distributions, which collectively eroded the gains seen in the previous month. Institutional accounts bore the brunt of the downturn, with subadvisory and advisory services seeing a combined reduction of over $2.5 billion. Open-end and closed-end funds also saw their valuations slip, closing at $47.7 billion and $12.0 billion respectively.
Despite the broader decline, the firm managed to maintain positive momentum in its open-end funds, which recorded $598 million in net inflows. This growth provided a partial buffer against the wider market slide affecting the firm’s real estate and infrastructure-focused portfolios. Cohen & Steers, headquartered in New York, continues to manage its global strategy across offices in London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, maintaining its focus on alternative income and real assets.
