Belc Profits Slide Amid Rising Costs as First-Half Revenue Climbs

A 25 percent drop in net profit hit Belc Co. Ltd. during the first half of the fiscal year, as the Japanese retailer saw earnings fall to 4.58 billion yen from 6.14 billion yen in the same period a year ago, despite a modest increase in total revenue.

Belc Profits Slide Amid Rising Costs as First-Half Revenue Climbs

The company’s revenue for the six months ending August 31 reached 216.91 billion yen, up from 211.01 billion yen reported in 2025. However, this top-line growth failed to offset significant pressure on margins, with operating profit declining to 6.91 billion yen compared to 8.88 billion yen previously. Pretax profit followed a similar downward trajectory, settling at 7.04 billion yen against the prior year’s 9.02 billion yen.

Reflecting these results, earnings per share dropped to 220.03 yen from 294.88 yen. The financial figures were prepared in accordance with Japanese accounting standards.
