Shenzhen Media Group Captures Civilizational Ties in Horse Archery

In the shadow of the 2026 Global Horse Archery Masters Tournament, a new documentary series titled A World in Bloom explores the intersection of tradition and modern exchange. The production, marking the third anniversary of the Global Civilization Initiative, traces the lives of young athletes from Kazakhstan and China as they converge in Shenzhen.

The project documents the journey of Alibi, a Kazakh horse archer visiting China for the first time with aspirations of becoming a world champion. His arrival coincides with the preparations of Chinese competitors Wu Tongyu and Huang Ziyang, who aim to promote the traditional Guangqi-style format on an international stage. Filmed across East Asia, Central Asia, and Europe, the series focuses on human-interest narratives rather than mere competition stats.

While the tournament inevitably produces victors and defeated participants, the documentary highlights how the sport serves as a bridge for cultural dialogue. Through sweat and shared practice, the athletes move beyond the competition field to establish personal bonds. By capturing these cross-border encounters, the Shenzhen Media Group production suggests that common ground is found through the preservation and exchange of millennia-old skills.
