The partnership leverages Sectra’s established network, which currently connects over 500 institutions primarily for radiology. By expanding the platform to support digital pathology, Diagnexia aims to provide NHS trusts with immediate access to a pool of more than 250 GMC-registered specialist pathologists. This infrastructure shift is designed to address rising case volumes and staffing limitations that have historically forced laboratories to rely on bespoke, time-consuming arrangements for external reporting.
Under the terms of the contract, signed in the second quarter of Sectra’s 2026/2027 fiscal year, the service will facilitate up to 100,000 cases in its first year. Because the platform is vendor-neutral and integrates directly with existing Laboratory Information Systems and PACS, NHS sites can utilize these new reporting capacities without the need for additional infrastructure or separate onboarding processes. For Diagnexia, which operates UKAS-accredited facilities in Oxford and Exeter, the collaboration serves as a catalyst for building a broader national telepathology network.
