Brent Crude Expected to Hold Above $100 as Iran Deal Stalls

Brent Crude prices are set to maintain their position above $100 per barrel for the coming months, anchored by the persistent diplomatic impasse between the United States and Iran. Cedric Chehab, chief economist at BMI, warns that this sustained elevation will continue to complicate global inflation and monetary policy.

Brent Crude Expected to Hold Above $100 as Iran Deal Stalls

BMI projects that a viable agreement between Washington and Tehran remains unlikely until early 2027, as both nations navigate the slow accumulation of economic pressure. This forecast arrives amid a volatile geopolitical backdrop, with the Trump Administration seeking to suppress domestic fuel costs ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.

Simultaneously, the energy market is reacting to President Donald Trump’s announcement of an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine. While the White House characterizes this as a "refinery for refinery" pact intended to shield oil infrastructure from strikes, Moscow has yet to confirm its participation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signaled openness to the proposal, contingent upon clear dialogue and reciprocal action from the Kremlin, leaving global energy supply chains in a state of cautious anticipation.
