Data Center Chip Market Set to Top $1 Trillion by 2035

The global data center semiconductor market is projected to reach $1.02 trillion by 2035, driven by an aggressive shift toward AI-specific hardware. With a compound annual growth rate of 12.49%, the industry is transitioning from general-purpose computing toward a landscape dominated by specialized accelerators and custom silicon.

In 2025, the market was valued at $314.87 billion, with AI accelerators already accounting for more than half of that total at $169.77 billion. According to Amit Jain, a senior consultant at DC Market Insights, the sector has crossed a structural threshold where accelerators now carry more value than traditional CPUs or memory. This evolution forces infrastructure buyers to prioritize system-level co-design, balancing workload requirements against the thermal and power constraints of modern data centers.

A significant factor in this growth is the rise of custom in-house silicon, which is expected to expand from 16.6% of the market in 2025 to 29.7% by 2035. As hyperscalers move to design their own workload-specific chips, the competitive landscape is shifting from single-chip performance to full-platform capability. Networking and interconnect silicon are also poised for substantial gains, projected to hit $118.64 billion by 2035 as AI clusters demand higher-bandwidth fabrics to manage scale-out workloads.

North America remains the primary hub for this expansion, commanding a 54.8% share of the 2025 market, followed by the Asia Pacific region at 27.6%. As power availability and cooling efficiencies become the primary metrics for success, the industry is seeing a dual market emerge: one where merchant silicon giants like NVIDIA and AMD continue to innovate, while simultaneous investment from hyperscalers like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft creates a new tier of proprietary semiconductor design.
