The addition of Comas and Hershberg signals a strategic pivot in the company’s leadership composition. Comas, a long-time Danaher executive who served as CFO from 2005 to 2018, brings extensive internal experience regarding the Danaher Business System and corporate capital allocation. Hershberg offers a specialized background in clinical innovation and biopharmaceuticals, having previously led HilleVax and held executive roles at Celgene. He will also serve on the company’s Science and Technology Committee.
Simultaneously, the board prepares for the departure of Alan G. Spoon, who will not seek reelection at the 2027 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. In a separate financial move, co-founders Steven and Mitchell Rales have waived their rights to 500,000 restricted stock units each, which were originally granted in August 2026. Chairman Steven M. Rales described the board expansion as a deliberate effort to blend deep institutional knowledge with specialized scientific expertise to support the firm's long-term growth objectives.
