Steer Acquires Call Inbound to Enhance Auto Repair Phone Systems

Steer, a front-of-house platform for auto repair shops, has acquired Call Inbound to bolster its communications technology. Call Inbound founder David Boyd will transition to lead the Steer Voice division, merging his team’s specialized telecommunications expertise with Steer’s existing suite of booking and marketing software for independent garages.

The merger aims to transform how repair shops manage customer interactions, which remain the primary gateway for new business. By integrating Call Inbound’s VoIP systems and AI-powered call analysis into the Steer ecosystem, the company intends to provide owners with granular visibility into how their staff converts phone inquiries into scheduled appointments.

Under Boyd’s direction, the expanded Steer Voice team will prioritize the development of advanced front-counter training tools and deeper software integrations. Parker Swift, CEO of Steer, noted that the acquisition allows the company to move beyond basic call management, offering shops more sophisticated data to track marketing performance and improve customer retention. This consolidation combines Call Inbound’s industry-specific telephony with Steer’s automated scheduling and follow-up capabilities, creating a centralized hub for shop operations.
