Stryker Gains FDA Clearance for Sonopet 3 Ultrasonic Platform

Surgeons now have a new tool for bone and soft tissue removal as Stryker receives FDA 510(k) clearance for its Sonopet 3 platform. Developed through direct collaboration with medical professionals, the device promises increased power and refined control for neurosurgical procedures, marking a significant evolution in the company’s surgical technology lineup.

The platform integrates advanced features like Pulse Control for precise tissue resection and the RISE system, designed to harmonize connected surgical workflows. According to Mitch Foley, vice president and general manager of Stryker’s Neurosurgical business, the development process prioritized feedback from hundreds of surgeons who requested improved ergonomics and higher performance levels to navigate demanding clinical environments.

Stryker expects to initiate the first clinical applications of Sonopet 3 this October, with a broader commercial rollout scheduled for late autumn. By focusing on these specific surgeon-led requirements, the company aims to elevate standards in neurosurgery while streamlining the integration of equipment within existing operating rooms.
