Sealed Air Boosts California Foam Production to Meet Regional Demand

To address surging demand for protective packaging, Sealed Air has scaled up its closed-cell polyethylene foam manufacturing at its Madera, California, facility. The expansion aims to stabilize supply chains for fabricators and industrial clients across North and Latin America, bolstering the company’s regional production network.

The investment targets the production of Ethafoam and Stratocell, two core materials used for cushioning and bracing in the automotive, medical, and electronics sectors. By enhancing the Madera plant's output, the company seeks to improve manufacturing efficiency and provide more consistent access to specialty foams for its North American and Latin American customer base.

Byron Racki, President of Protective Packaging at Sealed Air, noted that the decision was a direct response to feedback from fabricators requiring more dependable material access. This move integrates into the company’s broader global network, which spans facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia. Beyond simply increasing volume, the expansion is intended to balance production loads and foster innovation within the company’s protective packaging portfolio.
