The recall encompasses 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis models and the 2017–2020 Genesis G80. According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the internal components of the power-seat system are prone to overheating, a flaw that poses a significant safety threat to both passengers and property.
Hyundai is currently engineering a permanent repair for the issue. In the interim, the manufacturer has instructed owners to keep their vehicles away from garages or other flammable structures. Notification letters are scheduled to reach affected owners on December 7, providing further guidance on the inspection and remediation process.
