The appointment recognizes Almy Education’s expertise in developmental education reform, specifically its role in advancing corequisite course design. By joining the network, the firm aligns with the initiative's goal to have all states implement strategies by 2040 that ensure students are on a clear path to graduation after their freshman year. Kathleen Almy, founder and CEO, noted that the partnership bridges the gap between high-level policy and the practical realities of campus implementation, such as faculty scheduling and placement decisions.

Over the past eight years, the consultancy has expanded from its initial focus on gateway math to include sciences and workforce development programs. Working with more than 100 institutions across 14 states, the firm utilizes a "done with you" model that integrates specialized consultants directly into institutional teams. This approach, centered on the Gateway Success at Scale framework, targets culture, systems, and classroom practice to help colleges achieve meaningful results within a single academic year.
