Since 2022, the partnership has channeled more than $1.35 million into 45 local programs, serving over 23,900 older adults throughout Food Lion’s 10-state footprint. By focusing on long-term sustainability, this new funding phase addresses the rising costs of fuel and food that have outpaced federal resources, leaving many older adults on waiting lists for essential services.
To drive immediate engagement, Food Lion Feeds will launch a matching campaign on World Food Day, October 16, 2026. The company will donate $2 for every $1 contributed to the national organization, up to a $25,000 limit. This effort supports the broader "End the Wait" campaign, which seeks to eliminate the service gaps that currently leave aging populations without consistent nutrition or social connection. Kevin Durkee, manager of Food Lion Feeds, noted that the funding is designed to keep older adults healthy and independent within their own homes.
