The collaboration integrates MassiveMusic’s catalog delivery system directly into GRAI’s platform, ensuring that commercial tracks arrive with pre-cleared permissions. By utilizing MassiveMusic’s existing rights infrastructure, GRAI aims to streamline the path to launch while ensuring usage reports and payments reach rightsholders. Beyond delivery, the partnership enriches GRAI’s discovery engine with metadata covering over 30 dimensions, including instrumentation, mood, and era, to support personalized user recommendations from the first session.
For its AI initiatives, GRAI is utilizing a dedicated dataset sourced through MassiveMusic’s opt-in system. According to CTO Dzmitry Kamarouski, the company prioritized building on a foundation of legal clarity, adopting a 'rights before code' philosophy to ensure that music and its associated rights remain linked. The model itself is engineered to analyze the core components of music—melody, harmony, and rhythm—rather than acting as a simple audio generator. This technological framework is further supported by GRAI’s recent licensing of patents from Music IP Holdings, which cover the technical requirements for integrating recorded music with AI, from authorization to payment. Following its acquisition of the social music platform Hangout, GRAI is currently testing its early builds ahead of a wider public release.
