The platform functions as a unified engine that captures a firm’s expertise, ensuring that institutional knowledge compounds rather than remaining siloed in individual files or senior staff members. According to Lexcel CEO David Stepovich, the goal is to enable firms to scale their operations without diluting the quality of their underwriting standards.
Lexcel integrates into existing workflows through three primary components: an automated intake system that verifies broker submissions against appetite rules, a centralized workbench for real-time risk tracking, and a workflow engine that drafts quotes and terms with direct source citations. Because the system is designed to learn from every decision made by the underwriters, it effectively updates its own precedent library. Currently deployed with specialty managing general agents, the platform requires no internal AI engineering teams to implement, functioning instead as a layer atop the systems firms already utilize.
