The aircraft now enters a rigorous phase of testing and verification, a prerequisite before its maiden flight and final handover to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. This unit is the first of three GlobalEye systems ordered by the government; the initial contract for two planes was signed in 2022, with an additional order placed in 2024 to bolster national security.
Equipped with a sophisticated array of active and passive sensors, the GlobalEye provides real-time, multi-domain situational awareness. Saab CEO Micael Johansson described the presentation as a milestone for the Swedish Armed Forces, emphasizing the system's role in supporting rapid decision-making. By integrating intelligence across air forces, armies, and navies, the platform aims to identify threats earlier and sharpen the operational picture for commanders in the field.
