The launch of FACTS Compass targets the administrative complexities inherent in the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit, which allows taxpayers to support educational expenses across public and private K-12 institutions. By providing a centralized management system, the platform seeks to reduce the operational load on organizations tasked with distributing these funds. Managing director of product Jonell Sanchez noted that the initial release focuses on immediate needs like fundraising and enrollment, with further feature expansion scheduled for 2027.

FACTS, a subsidiary of Nelnet, currently works with over 120 scholarship programs and five state education funding initiatives. This existing infrastructure informs the development of Compass, which is designed to handle eligibility determination and compliance monitoring. According to director Matt Richardson, the company intends to position itself as both a technology provider and an implementation partner to help communities interpret federal regulations. With a client base of nearly 12,000 schools, FACTS claims that the new software will allow organizations to prioritize student support over manual processing.
