Hitachi Energy and Ansaldo Energia Partner to Accelerate Power Delivery

Global electricity demand is poised to double by 2050, prompting Hitachi Energy and Ansaldo Energia to sign a memorandum of understanding to streamline power infrastructure deployment. The alliance aims to merge gas-turbine technology with grid-scale electrical systems to address urgent capacity gaps in data centers and industrial hubs.

The partnership focuses on creating integrated generation and transmission solutions that function across both 50 Hz and 60 Hz frequencies. By linking Ansaldo Energia’s turbine expertise with Hitachi’s high-voltage transformers and automation systems, the companies seek to reduce the time required to bring new power capacity online. This effort responds specifically to the strain placed on energy grids by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and high-density computing facilities.

Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of Hitachi Energy, noted that existing infrastructure is struggling to keep pace with the current speed of electrification. His counterpart, Fabrizio Fabbri of Ansaldo Energia, emphasized that the collaboration is designed to provide end-to-end reliability for large-scale consumers. Beyond core hardware, Hitachi plans to incorporate its HMAX Data Center software to support autonomous system management, aiming to provide a unified, scalable package for energy-intensive sectors.
