The Nasdaq Composite climbed 290.85 points, or 1.11%, to finish at 26430.89. The S&P 500 followed suit with a 0.41% gain to 7690.73, though the Dow Jones Industrial Average lagged, slipping 36.38 points to 51966.03.
Bond markets reacted to persistent inflationary pressures, pushing Treasury yields higher as participants prepared for a possible Federal Reserve rate hike. The 10-year Treasury note yield increased 0.038 percentage point to 5.135%, marking its sharpest rise since early October. Meanwhile, November oil futures in New York jumped 2.2% to $103.66 a barrel. This surge occurred despite a recent dip in energy prices following President Trump’s decision to waive specific sanctions on Russian energy products, as traders remain wary of potential supply constraints in the Middle East.
