Industrial Stocks Stumble Amid Mixed Earnings Reports

A steady climb in defense spending is fueling optimism for firms like Northrop Grumman, yet the broader industrial sector struggled to find momentum today. Industrial Stocks Stumble Amid Mixed Earnings Reports

General Motors shares retreated as the automaker grappled with the twin pressures of surging commodity prices and logistics expenses, which eroded third-quarter profitability. GE Aerospace faced a similar decline; despite raising its full-year earnings guidance and expressing confidence in sustained engine demand, the market reaction remained lukewarm.

RTX, formerly Raytheon, saw its stock remain largely unchanged even after lifting its 2026 growth outlook for the third time this year. Conversely, Northrop Grumman shares climbed following comments from Chief Executive Kathy Warden, who pointed to a multiyear surge in defense procurement from the U.S. and its allies. Meanwhile, Swiss conglomerate ABB faced downward pressure as sluggishness in specific technology sectors tempered the strong revenue gains generated by its data center business.
