Pegasystems Profit Slumps as AI Market Shift Stalls Growth

A sharp decline in third-quarter profit has left Pegasystems grappling with cooling contract growth as corporate clients tighten their technology budgets. Pegasystems Profit Slumps as AI Market Shift Stalls Growth

Revenue climbed to $393.36 million from $381.35 million, yet the company missed FactSet analyst expectations of $421.1 million. Adjusted earnings hit 35 cents per share, falling short of the 45-cent target set by Wall Street. Following the report, shares tumbled 4.2% in after-hours trading to $34.98.

Management attributed the slowdown to heightened client scrutiny of large-scale tech investments as the industry adjusts to rapid AI integration. CFO Ken Stillwell noted that go-to-market executive challenges hindered annual contract value growth, forcing the company to initiate corrective measures to stabilize performance. CEO Alan Trefler remains optimistic, asserting that despite the current market volatility, the firm is well-positioned to leverage advanced models including Claude, OpenAI GPT, and Gemini.
