Tokyo Steel Net Profit Slides to 2.39 Billion Yen

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing saw its net profit nearly halve to 2.39 billion yen for the six months ending September 30, down from 4.57 billion yen during the same period last year. The Japanese steelmaker struggled against rising costs as operating profit swung to a 3.54 billion yen loss.

Tokyo Steel Net Profit Slides to 2.39 Billion Yen

Despite a revenue increase to 150.42 billion yen from 133.89 billion yen the previous year, the company faced significant pressure on its bottom line. Pretax profit also fell into the red, recording a loss of 2.95 billion yen compared to a 6.98 billion yen profit in 2025. Consequently, earnings per share dropped to 23.46 yen from 44.43 yen.

Reflecting these financial challenges, the company adjusted its dividend outlook. Shareholders will receive 20 yen per share for the midyear, a decrease from the 25 yen paid out last year. The firm anticipates a total annual dividend of 40 yen per share, down from the 50 yen distributed in the prior fiscal year. These results were calculated according to Japanese accounting standards.
