Stepan Extends Dividend Streak to 59 Years

Fifty-nine years of consecutive payout hikes have secured Stepan a lasting position among the market’s dividend kings. The Northbrook-based chemical manufacturer confirmed a 2.5% increase to its quarterly dividend on Wednesday, marking another milestone for the company’s long-term strategy of returning capital to its shareholders.

The board approved a one-cent increase, bringing the quarterly distribution to 40.5 cents per share. This adjustment pushes the company’s annual yield to approximately 2.48%. Investors of record as of December 1 will receive the payment on December 15.

Stepan remains one of only 60 companies globally to maintain such a prolonged record of dividend growth. This elite status, tracked by organizations like Sure Dividend, requires a minimum of five decades of annual increases. By continuing this trend, the specialty chemicals producer reinforces its commitment to consistent shareholder returns despite shifting market conditions in the chemical sector.
