Starting January 1, Gerstenberg will transition into the role of sole CEO. A veteran of the organization, Gerstenberg has been with Clean Harbors since 1989 and served alongside Battles in the co-CEO capacity since March 2023. Battles, who first joined the firm in September 2013, will remain through next year to assist in the transition by serving in an advisory role.
Mike Battles to Step Down as Clean Harbors Co-CEO

His departure marks the conclusion of a dual-leadership era at the Norwell, Massachusetts-based company, leaving Eric Gerstenberg to helm the business alone.
