PSEG Long Island reported that as of Monday afternoon, 12,629 customers remained without electricity out of a total base of 1.2 million. The utility has successfully restored service to more than 15,000 households since Sunday afternoon, despite the lingering effects of the blizzard.
Recovery Efforts Amid Severe Conditions
The restoration process faces significant logistical hurdles. According to the utility, a sustained period of high winds and deep snow has limited access to rear-property infrastructure. Consequently, the company warned that many customers could face outages extending beyond 24 hours as crews navigate difficult travel conditions.
Other major providers in the region are managing smaller clusters of service disruptions. PSEG New Jersey reported 2,873 customers without power out of its 2.3 million accounts. Meanwhile, Consolidated Edison confirmed that 4,125 of its 3.6 million customers lacked service as of Monday afternoon.
