AbbVie Reports Nine-Year Outcomes for Venetoclax in CLL Treatment

The final analysis of the CLL14 study, conducted alongside the German CLL Study Group, highlights the durability of the combination therapy for patients with coexisting medical conditions. Data indicate a median time to next treatment of approximately 7.6 years, offering an extended period of remission without the need for additional specific therapy.

After a median follow-up of 9.2 years, the venetoclax-based regimen demonstrated superior progression-free survival compared to the standard combination of obinutuzumab and chlorambucil. Patients receiving the venetoclax combination achieved a median progression-free survival of 6.4 years, compared to 3.2 years for the control group. The study confirms that the fixed-duration approach remains a viable option for those managing complex health profiles, with the most frequent Grade 3 adverse events including neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and pneumonia.
