Jason Christie Claims 10th B.A.S.S. Title at Pasquotank River

Jason Christie did not believe he was destined for a win until the trophy was in his hands. The Oklahoma pro secured his second victory of the 2026 season at the Maxam Bassmaster Elite Series, finishing with a four-day total of 92 pounds, 7 ounces despite struggling to maintain a consistent pattern.

Christie’s win places him in elite company, joining legends like Kevin VanDam and Roland Martin as the only anglers to reach double-digit B.A.S.S. event victories. His path to the title was unconventional; he relied on a single, highly productive dock on the Chowan River and an unnamed urchin-style bait he stumbled upon at a trade event. Between Saturday and Sunday, that specific dock yielded over 28 pounds of bass, effectively saving his tournament after a week of erratic results.

While forward-facing sonar helped him map structure, the competition remained a grind. Christie managed only 19 bass over the four-day event, failing to catch a limit on one day. His final push on Championship Sunday proved decisive: he landed three bass exceeding 20 pounds in just 10 minutes. Rookie Fisher Anaya finished second with 87 pounds, 1 ounce, anchored by a 9-pound, 9-ounce catch that secured the tournament's Big Bass honors. Hunter Shryock took third, notable for bringing in the week's only 30-pound bag.
