Bicycle Therapeutics Reshuffles Leadership as CFO Steps Down

Bicycle Therapeutics has announced a significant C-suite overhaul, appointing Chief Accounting Officer Travis Thompson as its new finance chief following the departure of Alethia Young. The transition at the biotechnology firm also includes new appointments for the roles of chief medical officer and chief scientific officer, signaling a consolidation of internal leadership.

Thompson, who joined the company in 2018 after a tenure in EY’s life sciences practice, takes the helm of the finance department immediately. Young, who assumed the CFO role in 2023, will remain with the firm for a three-month interim period to facilitate the handover.

Internal Promotions Drive Executive Transition

The executive rotation extends to the company’s clinical and scientific operations. Michael Method, formerly the senior vice president of clinical development, has been elevated to chief medical officer. He succeeds Eric Westin, who is retiring from the post after overseeing key clinical milestones.

In a final move, Michael Skynner will transition from his current role as chief technology officer to become the company’s new chief scientific officer. These strategic shifts come as the firm continues to advance its proprietary platform of synthetic bicyclic peptides, according to the company's announcement.
