The race, which featured a winning time of 23:06 from Jared Bahena, served as the last major push for the foundation before it begins winding down operations at the end of the month. The closure follows the pending merger between Piedmont Advantage Credit Union and Truliant Federal Credit Union. Despite the transition, the event maintained its focus on supporting emergency financial aid and education across the Triad and Charlotte regions.
A central component of the final fundraising success was a $10,000 grant from Elan Credit Card, presented during the event. This contribution helped push the foundation’s total historical giving beyond $142,000 since its inception in 2020. Megan Brooks, the foundation’s fundraising chair, noted that the community spirit remained the driving force behind the event’s success. Foundation President Jean Golden-Rumer emphasized that the partnership with Elan proved instrumental in meeting their final goals, allowing the organization to fulfill its mission of turning credit union values into direct community support.
