San Francisco-based labor platform WorkWhile is integrating the technical team and intellectual property of AI agent pioneer Mindy, aiming to extend autonomous workforce management beyond digital offices and into the physical, hourly labor economy that supports 80 million workers across the United States.

The acquisition brings Mindy co-founders Yu Pan and Benoit Berthoux—veterans of PayPal and YouTube—into the WorkWhile engineering organization. Their arrival coincides with the launch of a dedicated Frontline Deployment Engineering team, tasked with embedding AI-native automation directly into the complex infrastructures of large-scale enterprise partners. The goal is to transition Mindy’s email-first AI agent architecture from executive administration into high-stakes environments like logistics, HR compliance, and middle management.

WorkWhile CEO Simon Khalaf stated the move will prioritize the financial stability of the 1.3 million workers currently using the platform. By deploying autonomous agents to handle scheduling and workforce optimization, the company intends to bridge the gap between abstract AI architecture and real-world operational efficiency. This integration marks a shift for WorkWhile as it moves to scale its predictive staffing tools through the specialized technical expertise of the Mindy team.
