Iranian Tankers Bypass U.S. Blockade as Nuclear Deal Looms

At least three Iranian crude oil tankers have cleared the U.S. blockade near the Strait of Hormuz this week, signaling Tehran’s readiness to flood the market as a tentative agreement with Washington nears formal signature in Switzerland this Friday.

Iranian Tankers Bypass U.S. Blockade as Nuclear Deal Looms

TankerTrackers.com reports that two National Iranian Tanker Company supertankers, the Diona and Hero2, have successfully navigated the perimeter carrying 3.8 million barrels of crude. This marks the first significant movement of Iranian oil in two months, ending a period of stagnant exports. A third vessel, tracked by Kpler, exited the blockade zone on Wednesday with another million barrels on board, while the tanker Stream is currently maneuvering toward the region after idling in Pakistani waters for seven weeks.

Maritime analysts note that the surge in traffic reflects a calculated move to capitalize on the impending deal, which reportedly allows Tehran to resume fuel and oil sales immediately upon the signing ceremony in Geneva. Windward analyst Michelle Wiese Bockmann observed that the fleet is effectively mobilizing, with the NITC vessel Dan recently ending a weeks-long period of radio silence near the Riau archipelago to return to Iran for loading. This rapid deployment underscores the urgency behind the 60-day negotiation window set to begin this weekend.
