The index, which tested over 50 intent-based queries across major platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, and Google AI Overviews, suggests a fundamental shift in how singles discover partners. While Tinder remains the leader for casual dating, Hinge has secured the top spot by aligning its brand with serious relationship intent. This transition marks a departure from legacy network effects, where sheer volume dictated market hierarchy.
Smaller niche platforms are reaping the rewards of this new discovery layer. The League, despite having a fraction of the commercial footprint of its rivals, holds the number five spot, outperforming established names like OkCupid and Plenty of Fish. According to 5W founder Ronn Torossian, AI engines prioritize “trust signals”—such as quarterly safety reports, expert-led editorial content, and verified membership protocols—at rates that significantly exceed their actual market share. Apps that publish original relationship research or demonstrate clear demographic focus are now effectively converting users who have bypassed traditional search engines in favor of direct AI consultation.
