Kuwait Resumes Naphtha Exports Amid Volatile Strait of Hormuz Outlook

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation has launched a tender for naphtha shipments from its ports, marking a strategic shift as regional producers test the accessibility of the Strait of Hormuz. The move signals cautious optimism that maritime traffic may stabilize despite conflicting reports regarding the status of the critical oil chokepoint.

Kuwait Resumes Naphtha Exports Amid Volatile Strait of Hormuz Outlook

State-held Kuwait Petroleum Corporation is now inviting buyers to collect cargoes directly from its ports, moving away from previous mandates that required purchasers to charter their own tankers during the peak of the recent crisis. This transition suggests a calculated effort by Gulf producers to restore logistical normalcy and increase export volumes after a period of significant supply disruption.

The volatility surrounding the Strait remains high, with contradictory claims from Tehran and Washington over whether the waterway is effectively open for commerce. Despite the uncertainty, Kuwait is aggressively ramping up its output. CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Sabah stated that the nation expects production to reach 2 million barrels per day within a week, a sharp climb from the 573,000 barrels per day recorded in May. Officials remain hopeful that prewar production levels will be fully restored as international shipping lanes regain reliability.
