TrueLab Grants Bionyra Global Rights to Immunology Assets in $985M Deal

Ningbo-based TrueLab Biopharmaceutical has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with clinical-stage startup Bionyra Pharma, granting the latter worldwide rights—excluding Greater China—to two advanced antibody therapies. The deal, valued at up to $985 million, includes upfront payments, development milestones, and a minority equity stake for TrueLab.

The agreement centers on TL-001, an anti-TL1A monoclonal antibody, and TL-003, a bispecific antibody targeting both TL1A and IL-23. Both candidates aim to address immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease. TrueLab has already completed Phase I enrollment for TL-001 in Australia, while clinical evaluation for TL-003 began earlier this year.

Simultaneous to the licensing announcement, Bionyra Pharma closed a $165 million Series A financing round. The investment was co-led by Jeito Capital and Sofinnova Partners, with backing from Sanofi Ventures, Arkin Capital, and others. Dr. Francis Fan, CEO of TrueLab, noted that the collaboration serves as a validation of the company's proprietary TrueForge AI-powered discovery platform. For Bionyra, the partnership provides a pipeline of next-generation biologics to complement its focus on severe inflammatory conditions.
