Cognivia and Mayo Clinic Partner to Quantify Patient Behavior

Brussels-based Cognivia is partnering with the Mayo Clinic to integrate behavioral intelligence into clinical research and patient care. The collaboration targets three persistent obstacles in medical outcomes: patient non-adherence, missed appointments, and the high rate of attrition currently undermining the reliability of clinical trials.

Even the most advanced treatments depend on a patient's ability to navigate daily protocols, yet medicine has historically struggled to quantify these human variables. By combining Cognivia’s behavioral modeling with the Mayo Clinic’s clinical expertise, the initiative aims to transform subjective patient actions into measurable data. The goal is to provide care teams and researchers with early warnings, allowing for targeted interventions before a missed dose or a skipped follow-up compromises a treatment plan or study results.

Dominique Demolle, CEO of Cognivia, noted that the industry has long prioritized biological factors while lacking systematic ways to address the behavioral drivers of health outcomes. The partnership intends to bridge this gap, moving beyond retrospective analysis to proactive management. While the Mayo Clinic holds a financial interest in the technology, the institution stated that any resulting revenue will be reinvested into its nonprofit missions of research and education.
