Skovronsky currently serves as Chief Scientific and Product Officer at Eli Lilly and Company and President of Lilly Research Laboratories. His oversight of global R&D portfolios, spanning cardiometabolic health, immunology, and neuroscience, aligns with Illumina’s ambition to expand its influence in precision medicine and multiomics platforms. According to Illumina CEO Jacob Thaysen, the appointment is intended to sharpen the company's research focus and enhance its ability to drive innovation across its sequencing technologies.

Skovronsky’s career trajectory includes founding Avid Radiopharmaceuticals in 2004, which was later acquired by Lilly in 2010. His transition into the pharmaceutical giant saw him rise through increasing levels of responsibility, eventually overseeing the company’s vast commercial product pipeline. Beyond his executive roles, he brings governance experience from his previous tenure on the board of Myriad Genetics. He holds an MD and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, with specialized training in pathology and neuropathology.
