The American Water Works Association presented the 25-year Directors Awards to the Central, Meramec, North, and South plants in St. Louis County, alongside the Joplin Water Treatment Plant. These sites are among a select group of roughly 400 facilities nationwide participating in the voluntary initiative, which focuses on enhancing protection against microbial contamination through advanced treatment protocols.

Missouri American Water President Rich Svindland noted that the awards reflect a daily commitment to reliability for the 1.7 million residents served by the utility. Beyond plant-level optimization, the company maintains six systems under the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Source Water Protection Program to safeguard water quality at its origin. These efforts align with the broader operational goals of parent company American Water, which marks its 140th anniversary this year.
