Monster Energy Unveils Elite Athlete Roster for X Games Sacramento

As the inaugural MoonPay X Games League summer season prepares to launch at Cal Expo this June 26–28, Monster Energy has confirmed its roster of world-class competitors. The event marks a shift toward a year-round, team-based league format, featuring over 100 athletes battling for 54 medals across three days of intense competition.

The Sacramento event serves as the first stop of the new X Games League, an evolution of the contest series that traces its origins to 1995. Athletes will compete for points to secure their city-based clubs a lead in the standings before the final championship in New Orleans. Beyond the sports, the venue will host a festival featuring performances by Kaskade, Mustard, and Subtronics.

Skateboarding legend Nyjah Huston leads the Monster Energy contingent, aiming to extend his record of 15 gold medals and 26 total podium finishes. He faces a deep field in both Street and Best Trick events, including rivals Filipe Mota and Giovanni Vianna. On the vert ramp, Tom Schaar returns to defend his reputation as a multi-discipline threat, while Australian prodigy Arisa Trew seeks to reclaim gold in Women's Skateboard Park after a narrow miss in Salt Lake City last year.

The BMX and Moto X programs promise similar high-stakes progression. Kevin Peraza returns to defend his gold in the Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick, while Ryan Williams, who made history with a triple backflip on dirt last year, headlines the BMX Dirt category. In the Moto X arena, Julien Vanstippen looks to maintain his dominance in Best Whip, while the legendary Taka Higashino marks his 20th year of X Games competition in the Moto X Best Trick final.
