Celebright Secures U.S. Patent for Integrated Power Distribution

Ottawa-based Celebright has received a U.S. patent for a proprietary switching power supply that reconfigures how electricity flows through permanent outdoor lighting. The innovation addresses common industry hurdles, specifically voltage drop and heat buildup, by localizing power transformation within the light string rather than relying on centralized sources.

Traditional outdoor lighting systems often suffer from energy loss as electricity travels across long runs, forcing installers to add secondary wiring or extra connection points to maintain brightness. Celebright’s new architecture distributes power at a higher voltage, reducing it only at the point of use. This approach ensures uniform luminosity across entire installations while lowering operating temperatures for the LEDs.

CEO Dan Junkins described the patent as a validation of years spent solving core infrastructure challenges in the architectural lighting sector. Beyond technical performance, the system streamlines installation for dealers by simplifying wiring layouts and reducing potential failure points. For homeowners, the design translates into enhanced durability and energy efficiency, allowing for year-round use without significant spikes in power consumption. Partners like Accu-Bright Lighting Solutions and Eternalight noted that the technology’s reliability has enabled them to offer extended labor warranties, bolstering consumer confidence in the long-term viability of permanent outdoor lighting setups.
