CVS Health Foundation distributes $1 million to Hartford nonprofits

Twenty local organizations in the Greater Hartford area are receiving a combined $1 million in grants from the CVS Health Foundation’s Hometown Fund. The initiative targets systemic barriers to wellness, specifically funding nonprofits that provide emergency housing, food security, and essential health care services to vulnerable residents.

The funding aims to bolster the capacity of groups working on the front lines of community stability. Among the recipients is ImmaCare, a Hartford-based organization that provides emergency shelter and wraparound services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Teresa A. Wierbicki, the nonprofit's director of strategic development, noted that the flexible nature of these grants allows the organization to invest in long-term initiatives rather than just immediate crisis response.

Beyond ImmaCare, the list of grantees includes the Urban League of Greater Hartford, the Center for Children’s Advocacy, and the Chrysalis Center. Jenny McColloch, president of the CVS Health Foundation, emphasized that the program prioritizes communities where the company’s employees live and work. This latest injection of capital follows a broader corporate contribution of $2.61 million to Connecticut-based initiatives in 2025, which included health screenings and workforce development programs.
