Ronald Sargent Transitions to Non-Executive Role at Kroger

Effective July 1, Kroger Chairman Ronald Sargent will step away from his employee status at the supermarket chain. While vacating his executive duties, the former Staples chief executive will maintain his presence on the board, transitioning into a non-executive role to continue his oversight of the company.

Ronald Sargent Transitions to Non-Executive Role at Kroger

Sargent has held a seat on the Kroger board since 2006. His tenure at the company recently included a stint as interim chief executive from March 2025 through February 2026, a period during which he also assumed the chairmanship. This shift marks a reduction in his day-to-day corporate involvement while preserving his long-standing institutional influence within the grocery giant.
