VersaBank Donates $60,000 to Salvation Army Food Initiative

In front of a crowd of 700 attendees at its annual Summer Celebration in London, Ontario, VersaBank delivered a $60,000 contribution to The Salvation Army. The donation bolsters the Harvest Hope campaign, a nationwide effort currently in its third year, aimed at addressing rising food insecurity across Canada.

The presentation took place on June 27, 2026, marking a significant boost for the organization’s food programming. David Taylor, founder and president of the bank, cited the current economic climate as a driving factor for the gift, noting that local demand for community meals and grocery support has reached critical levels.

Captain Gina Haggett, the Salvation Army’s divisional director for public relations in Ontario, stated that the funds will be directed toward a range of services, including food hampers, community vegetable gardens, and shelter provisions. Beyond the immediate financial impact, Taylor used the event to challenge other business leaders to increase their local engagement, arguing that corporate backing is essential for the sustainability of social services during periods of widespread financial strain.
