Maddi Gordon Claims First Top Fuel Victory at Summit Nationals

Antron Brown held the advantage off the starting line, but rookie Maddi Gordon surged ahead in her 12,000-horsepower Carlyle Tools dragster to secure her first professional NHRA victory. The 22-year-old clocked a 3.786-second pass at 333.16 mph to claim the win at Summit Motorsports Park on Sunday.

The breakthrough victory marked Gordon’s 10th professional start in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. Her path to the winner’s circle required navigating a gauntlet of seasoned competitors, including Spencer Massey, Tony Stewart, and points leader Shawn Langdon. With this performance, Gordon becomes the eighth female driver in NHRA history to capture a win in the Top Fuel category, elevating her to fourth in the current season standings.

The triumph served as the centerpiece of a dominant weekend for Ron Capps Motorsports. Team owner Ron Capps secured his 80th career Funny Car win by defeating Jack Beckman, completing a rare organization sweep. Adding to the family milestone, Gordon’s father, Doug, also claimed a victory in the sportsman ranks.

Gordon, who was tapped to pilot the Capps dragster just one year ago, has maintained a steady climb in the professional ranks since her successful transition from the sportsman series. Reflecting on the win, the Paso Robles native credited Capps for the opportunity to transition into the sport’s premier class. The series now moves to Sonoma Raceway for the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals scheduled for July 17-19.
