The transaction, involving the issuance of $20.4 million in VisionWave common stock, remains subject to customary closing conditions, including a critical flight validation of Meteor's Impact-700 aerial platform. Once finalized, the acquisition will integrate Meteor’s multi-domain capabilities—ranging from unmanned ground and surface vessels to long-range loitering munitions—into VisionWave’s broader defense technology platform. Meteor founder Itzhak Nissan is expected to remain with the company as Chief Technology Director to oversee technological development.
This consolidation reflects a wider industry pivot toward AI-driven battlefield automation. As global defense spending prioritizes autonomous systems to enhance decision-making and reduce operational risks, other major players are also scaling their capabilities. Ondas Inc. recently partnered with Lockheed Martin to integrate its C-UAS technology into the Sanctum defense framework, while AEVEX Corp. secured a $15.2 million contract renewal for wildfire and intelligence response. Meanwhile, AIRO Group Holdings has unveiled the RQ-70 drone, targeting full-scale production by early 2027 to meet increasing global demand for deep-reach surveillance.
