The company’s shift toward non-combustion powertrains proved decisive, with electrified vehicle sales jumping 19.5% year over year. While the core Toyota division posted a solid 2.6% increase for the quarter, reaching 585,211 vehicles, the Lexus luxury brand struggled, recording a 7.5% decline to 88,760 units.
June acted as a critical pivot point for the manufacturer. Total sales for the month climbed 10% to 212,793, providing a late-quarter boost that lifted the Lexus division into positive territory with 3.9% growth. Andrew Gilleland, senior vice president at Toyota Motor North America, attributed these results to disciplined inventory management and rising interest in electrified models, which saw consistent month-over-month expansion throughout the period.
