Franklin Covey Slides as Earnings Miss Wall Street Targets

A 19% plunge in Franklin Covey shares headlined a volatile after-hours session Wednesday, as the company slashed its full-year outlook and missed third-quarter revenue expectations. Investors reacted sharply to the downgrade, dragging the stock down to $20.12 in the wake of the company's latest financial disclosure.

National Beverage took a different path, announcing a $3.25 special cash dividend despite a decline in both profit and revenue for the fiscal year ending May 2. Markets responded favorably to the capital return, pushing shares up 6.4% to $32.99. Meanwhile, Bassett Furniture faced a mixed quarter; while the company managed to increase its profit, revenue failed to meet targets. Bassett shares slipped 3.4% to $18.16 as traders weighed the narrower top-line results against the bottom-line gains.
