Coach Randall Rhodes confirmed the proceeds will directly support player development, practice resources, and tournament travel. The event drew participation from key university figures, including new President Keith Harris and board member Brett Pharr. Major corporate backing came from 14 sponsors, with Pathward serving as the premier title sponsor and RJ Young as a premier sponsor.
The tournament specifically honored the achievements of alumni Ben Burnette and Kayland Wilson, both of whom defined the Lions' competitive standards during their undergraduate years. Burnette was instrumental in securing a national ranking for the team, while Wilson accumulated 14 team titles and two individual championships. Organizers also paid tribute to the late Cliff Bennett, a former coach and professor whose mentorship remains a cornerstone of the FHU golf identity. President Harris emphasized that these efforts reinforce the university's mission to blend high-level athletic performance with Christian scholarship and character development.
