Energy Transfer and Sunoco Lead Corporate Migration to Texas

Energy Transfer, Sunoco, and USA Compression Partners are abandoning their Delaware legal domiciles to reincorporate in Texas. This shift, announced Thursday, aligns the energy giants with a growing roster of major American corporations seeking a new regulatory home in the Lone Star State, mirroring moves by Tesla and ExxonMobil.

The companies confirmed that the redomiciliations will become legally effective on July 6. Market operations, according to New York Stock Exchange guidelines, will reflect the change beginning July 13. This transition places these firms among an expanding cohort of industry leaders, including Dell Technologies and Elon Musk’s SpaceX, that have prioritized Texas as their primary corporate base. The move signals a broader shift in the landscape of American corporate governance, as companies increasingly move away from traditional Delaware incorporation in favor of Texas-based legal frameworks.
