The shift toward home-based matchday viewing is creating a unique domestic challenge. According to Beko’s research across ten global markets, 77% of fans now prefer the comfort and atmosphere of hosting friends and family. However, this trend reveals a distinct generational divide: 44% of fans aged 25–34 regularly host sporting events, compared to only 21% of those over 55.
Kitchen logistics remain the primary culprit for interrupted viewing. Preparing food on time and managing post-game cleanup are the leading stressors, each cited by 22% of participants. Keeping drinks cold and finding adequate refrigerator space also contribute to the chaos. To cope, 51% of hosts admit to stashing beverages in the freezer for a quick chill, while 27% resort to rearranging fridge shelves to accommodate the influx of supplies.
Ragıp Balcıoğlu, Beko’s Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, notes that fans want to spend less time managing the kitchen and more time watching the game. He suggests that intelligent appliances, such as those featuring AI-driven adaptive cooling, are designed to alleviate this burden by learning usage patterns to keep food and drinks ready without constant intervention. For the modern host, the refrigerator has become the true MVP of the matchday, with 42% of respondents identifying it as their most essential tool for a successful event.
