GTCR Sells Corza Medical’s Biosurgery Unit to EQT

Following the close of the deal, expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, GTCR will retain control of Corza Medical. The parent company intends to concentrate its resources on its remaining divisions: Wound Closure, Ophthalmology, and Biomedical Textiles. Corza Medical CEO Gregory T. Lucier noted that the divestiture allows the firm to sharpen its focus on these core surgical technology sectors while positioning the Biosurgery team for further expansion under EQT.

GTCR originally formed Corza Medical in 2019 alongside Lucier, a long-time veteran of the medical device industry. The platform grew significantly in 2021 through the acquisition of TachoSil and the integration of Surgical Specialties. Since that time, the company has completed three add-on acquisitions and expanded its global commercial footprint. Ethan Waxman, a partner at EQT, cited TachoSil’s strong clinical evidence and physician preference as primary drivers for the acquisition. Citi and Moelis & Company are advising Corza Medical on the transaction, with legal counsel provided by Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
